ReliefTrace - Aid You Can Actually Verify | DEV Weekend Challenge

What I Built

This is a submission for the Weekend Challenge: Generosity Edition. ReliefTrace is a disaster relief coordination dashboard built for DEV Community's Weekend Challenge: Generosity Edition. Anyone can log a relief contribution - no account, no payment. It's instantly written to Snowflake and anchored on a public Solana blockchain transaction, so every delivery has a permanent, verifiable record. An AI (Google Gemini) reads live district-level need data and generates a prioritized situation briefing, and you can ask it questions in plain English.

How I Built It

The problem: during disaster relief, two things are hard to trust: where need is actually unmet (not pledges, but requested minus delivered), and whether a donation really happened.

Snowflake

Need estimates aren't arbitrary: they're built from real affected-population data (2024 Assam floods, 2025 Punjab floods) run through Sphere Handbook humanitarian standards (15L water/person/day, ~2.1kg food/person/day, etc.). Every dashboard panel is a real SQL query, cached in Redis for speed.

Solana (devnet)

Every contribution fires a Memo-program transaction encoding district, resource, quantity, and donor. The signature is stored back in Snowflake and linked as "Verify on-chain" - a public, tamper-proof record instead of an editable spreadsheet number.

Google AI (Gemini)

Two core integrations, both grounded in live data:

1. An AI Situation Briefing that ranks districts by urgency with confidence scores and specific actions.
2. "Ask ReliefTrace" - Gemini uses function-calling to decide which live Snowflake query answers your question, then responds with real numbers, not guesses.

Stack & Scope

Stack: FastAPI + Snowflake pooling, React + Vite with live SSE updates, PDF export, email confirmation. Deliberately no logins, payments, or admin panels - this tracks physical aid, not money, and that scope kept the build honest and shippable in a weekend.
