How to make a faceless AI reel in 2026: pick a look, approve the story, post it

The first free reel I made on our own app last week was bad. It had no voice, a loud music bed and tiny gray captions. And the app had picked the look for me. I build Ziztu, so weigh that.

That reel is the reason Reel Factory now works the way it does: you choose the look, you read the story before anything is drawn, and then it makes the reel. Below is the whole flow with real screens from getziztu.com, plus the new 2.5D history cartoon format I shipped this week.

What changed in Reel Factory (the short list)

  • No default look. You pick one. The home page starts on "Choose a look", and "Make my reel" will not guess for you.
  • 55 reference styles, 256 looks in all. The 55 come from real reels people watch. Each one has a "Watch the reference" link, so you see the original before you copy its style.
  • You read the story first. After you press Make, you review the script. It is free to edit. Voice, music, captions and scenes come after that.
  • Looks without a voice say so. A few looks (stickman doodles, miniature dioramas) are silent on purpose. The picker tells you, instead of slipping a narrator in.
  • More caption looks, from karaoke highlights to typewriter and neon.
  • A new format: the 2.5D history cartoon. Flat cartoon characters in lit 3D sets, one true story, a calm narrator.
  • Your first 15-second reel is free. No card.

Step 1: Type a topic

Go to getziztu.com and type a topic, or paste a link to a reel you like. A pasted reel link copies that reel's format, never its video.

The home page. Style says "Choose a look" on purpose. Nothing is made until you pick one.

Type something specific. "Why does honey stretch so far?" works better than "honey facts". The tool writes the script from your sentence, so a sharper question gives a sharper reel.

Step 2: Choose a look

Click Style and you get the picker. This is the part I changed the most.

The picker: 55 looks, a search box and category chips. Notice the "No voice" tag on two of them.

Three things to know:

  • Look at the tags. A look marked "No voice" makes a music-only reel. If you want narration, pick a look without that tag.
  • Search or browse. Type "stick" or "anime", or use the chips: Story, What if, Science, Handmade, Close-ups, Horror, Blocks and more.
  • Every look comes from a real reel. On the Reel Factory page the full gallery has a "Watch the reference" link under each one, so you can see the original before you copy its style.

The gallery on the Reel Factory page: 55 references and 201 more looks, with views as of Oct 2026. The claymation original has 137.1M views.

Step 3: Choose a quality level

Under the box you will see four levels, with the credit price for a 15-second reel on the day I wrote this:

  • Lite: free (this is your free first reel)
  • Basic: 910 credits
  • Premium: 2,500 credits
  • Ultra: 5,900 credits

The exact price is on the Make button before anything runs, and a step that fails is refunded. If you only want to test an idea, use Lite.

Step 4: Read the story before it is made

Press Make my reel and you do not get a finished video yet. You get the story. The page says it plainly: you review the story, then fine-tune voice, music, captions and scenes, scene by scene if you want.

This is the step I wish I had on that first bad reel. A reel is only as good as its script, and the script is cheap to change. A picture or a voice line is not.

You can also bring your own story instead of the one it wrote.

Step 5: Pick captions that fit the look

Captions are where a lot of reels lose people. We now ship a bunch of caption looks. A few of them, on a test background: Caption looks, from gold highlight and bounce to karaoke, neon and typewriter.

Auto picks one that fits the look. Open Custom if you want to choose.

Step 6: See what comes out

Every reel on the page below was made in Reel Factory, with script, voice, captions and music, one topic each. Claymation, would-you-rather, diorama, stickman, ocean depth, animal facts, macro and block world. Each is one topic.

The new format: 2.5D history cartoon

A format has been going around YouTube Shorts: flat 2D characters with round heads and dot eyes, standing in full 3D lit sets, telling one true story from history. A hard cut about every two seconds, slow push-ins, one calm voice, one or two big words on screen at a time.

I built our own version of it. It uses our own cast, our own stories and no one else's characters.

The first example is the Pantheon: Three frames from "Why the Pantheon Dome Never Fell", a 39-second reel made in Reel Factory.

Here is the whole thing, frame by frame, so you can see the pacing. Notice how often the picture changes: 19 frames from one reel. The guide stays the same. The set, the angle and the caption change.

The page for this format is getziztu.com/reel-factory/2-5d-animation. It has 21 history ideas, and each one is a real event with a date or a fact you can check. Press "Make this video" on any of them and it fills the box.

Type a history question, press Generate. The price in credits is on the button.

The Pantheon facts in the reel are the ones the page lists: the present building was finished around AD 125 under Emperor Hadrian, and its dome is about 43 meters wide with no steel inside.

Honest limits

  • The free reel is 15 seconds at Lite. Longer or higher quality costs credits, and you see the price first.
  • Read your script. AI writers can get a date wrong. For history, check the numbers before you post. That is why the story step exists.
  • Some looks have no voice. That is on purpose, and the picker says so.
  • It makes the reel, not your audience. What you post and how often still matters more than any tool.

Try it

Your first 15-second reel is free, no card: getziztu.com. If you stay, the Reel Factory plan is $15 for the first month and then $20 a month, kept while you stay subscribed, for anyone who joins by 10 November 2026. The live price is always on the pricing page.

If you make one, tell me which look you picked. I read every reply.
