Full projects, built by agents while you sleep

Go to sleep. The agents keep building the full project. DEV_OS 1.0.0 takes an empty folder to a GitHub repository. You answer a short setup and approve the blueprint once.

After that, a builder and a reviewer run on GitHub Actions, task by task, including while you are asleep. You wake up to pull requests. You merge what is ready. Nothing merges without you.

What you do

  • Install Node.js 22 or newer, git, and the GitHub CLI. Sign in to one AI coding CLI on your computer: Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or Gemini.
  • Clone the engine and start it. On Windows, double-click Start DEV_OS.cmd. On macOS, double-click Start DEV_OS.command. In a terminal, run devos ui.
  • Answer a short setup: agents, project type, stack, modules, and whether you want an MVP or a full product. There are 16 project types and 20 stacks, from Next.js to FastAPI, Go, and Flutter.
  • An agent on your computer writes the blueprint into the folder: brief, scope, decisions, design, and the first task. You approve it, or you send it back, up to five rounds.
  • DEV_OS creates the GitHub repository and starts the cycle on GitHub Actions. A builder writes each task. A reviewer checks it against a written fence. A failed check overrides a pass. You merge.

The engine has no npm dependencies. The same setup runs in the terminal with devos init.

While you sleep

The cycle does not stop when you close the laptop. GitHub Actions runs the builder, then the reviewer, and waits out usage limits.

In the morning the pull requests are there, with a comment that says what still blocks the merge. You merge. The next task starts.

Keys

Each key is typed once. The input is hidden, and the value is handed to gh secret set over standard input. DEV_OS does not write it to a file, a log, or a model prompt.

What lands in the repository

The method is installed into the project: workflows, runner scripts, guards, prompts, and the operating manual. The first task is the skeleton of the stack you picked, with its checks green, before any feature work.

Every agent run records its tool, model, and tokens. docs/USAGE.md totals them.

Licence

The engine (devos, the guided page, and the contract) is PolyForm Shield 1.0.0. You can use it for your own products, including commercial work. You cannot use it to ship a product that competes with it.

The files DEV_OS installs into your project are MIT. Your project can keep them and ship them under its own licence, with the notice in devos/LICENSE.md.

Limits in 1.0.0

Codex and Gemini can be selected. They have not finished a real run on GitHub yet.

Supabase, R2, Firebase, and Vercel deploys are available for the JavaScript and TypeScript stacks.

The full path from devos init to a merged first task does not have an end-to-end test yet. devos verify and devos watch report what is blocking a first run.

Linking a project to the DEV_OS Control Tower is optional. Nothing is sent unless you answer yes.
