RIP scrum? Story points in the age of coding agents
RIP scrum. Scrummed in peace. The agents now ship a feature before the team agrees whether it's 3 or 5 story points. Half joke.
Planning poker made sense when a 5 point ticket meant a few days of someone's time. Now Claude Code or Cursor can draft that ticket before lunch, and the slow part moved to review and testing. Estimating the typing doesn't tell you much anymore.
The Scrum Guide was last updated in November 2020, before most teams had a coding agent at all.
So what does your team do now?
- Sprints and story points, same as before
- Estimating review time instead of build time
- No estimates, just ship and measure
- Something else
Would love to hear what works in real teams, the process doc version I already know.
