Playground Games says Fable's story will last between '15-20 hours' or double that with other open-world content, and the life systems are 'limitless'
Story and Side Content Length
Playground Games has confirmed that Fable's main story will take up to 20 hours to beat, with the main storyline taking between 15 and 20 hours to complete. Associate game director Will Kennedy confirmed that additional side content can also take between 15 and 20 hours.
Speaking during a Q&A session at Gamescom 2026, Kennedy discussed the scale of the upcoming role-playing game (RPG), saying:
"So the main story obviously depends on how you play, but the main storyline is around 15 to 20 hours."
He added:
"But then we've got around probably about 15 to 20 hours again of open world and side content to engage with."
Life Systems and Replayability
While the main story and side content provide a solid amount of playtime, the game's life systems offer "limitless" replayability. These life systems include:
- Interacting with the over 1,000 unique non-player characters (
NPCs) - Buying real estate
- Committing crimes
- And more
Kennedy explained that these systems will offer up even more playtime beyond the main story and side content:
"Honestly, with the life systems which we [shared an] in-depth look at and showcased earlier on in the year, that's limitless, and you can engage with it as much as you want," he said.
