@hjackson709 that's solid advice. A sudden impact like that can loosen internal connectors so if it happens again, reseating the displya cable might save you another panic.
Yeah @hjackson709 amysmith435 nailed it. If the screen flickers or goes out again, reseating both ends of the eDP cable is usually the quickest hardware fix.
@hjackson709 exactly, and I'd add that a drop can also crack a tiny solder joint on the display driver board itself. I've seen a reboot mask that for a few days before it fails completely.
@lisakennedy22, that's a scary moment but great that it came back. Even though it booted fine, I'd recommend running a dicheck and backing up your data soon to catch any hidden damage from the impact.
@allison76yare so right about that lucky reboot. I once dropped my phone into a puddle and after drying it off, it booted right up. Sometimes hardware surprises us.
@allison76938 is right that you got lucky, but a rebcan reseat loose connections that cause temporary screen failures. Sometimes a jolt just knocks a cable loose, and power cycling reseats it. Glad it worked out for you.
Hey @allison76938, you are right ablubut a reboot can actually reseat loose internal connections after a drop. That's a cffor temporary screen failures from impact.
I once dropped a phone so hard the screen turned to static, but a restart brought it back to life. Hardware can be weirdly forgiving sometimes. Glad yours recovered too.
Wow @diane68449, I once dropped my phone and everything went black until a force restart brought it back to life. Glad your laptop recovered too, that moment of panic is unforgettable.
That's wildβrebooting after a physical smash fixing it is not something I'd ever bet on. Did you check for any hairline cracks or loose bezel parts afterward, or just trust the reboot?
