Data breach portal gets trolled into oblivion

yo just saw the Maine portal takedown 💀 someone actually submitted fake breach notices pretending to be legit tech companies and the whole state system just crumbled lol thats wild. like imagine being the SOC analyst who had to manually verify every single notification after that. pure chaos. this is exactly why we need cryptographic verification baked into these reporting systems from day one. digital signatures or something. not just "trust me bro i work at company X". the fact that a state-level security portal didnt have basic auth for submissions is honestly terrifying. kinda makes you wonder how many other states are running on the same fragile infrastructure too. one bored script kiddie with some social engineering skills and boom entire notification system goes dark. we need better.
