Interesting documentary about LLMs and consciousness

What bothers me is he doesn't talk about the mechanics: the transformers and attention blocks. He claims to be a researcher in this space, and maybe this is intended for a more general audience so he avoids the details. But even the loops he encounters could be due to transformers/attention blocks reducing down due to the input and the context window.

Still there's a lot we don't know and parts of it are pretty spooky, even if you have more than a basic understanding of this stuff.

He also doesn't seem to understand or talk about the connections all of these big AI companies have to the government and defense. Facebook was practically funded by a DARPA and intelligence contractor, Peter Thiel. It's a very weird documentary, but I am fascinated by it.
