It's not my subject, but I did read all, and it was great!! Wait 1~2 hours.

Why does it take that long?

The exploit is pretty crazy:

https://github.com/DuskFal1/p2jb

There's some code path that doesn't free up a resource, and if certain calls are made 4.3 billion times, they can cause a wrap-around which can then be used-after-freeded.

I have no idea how someone would find this without some kind of fuzzer.

Interesting. It doesnt work on newer versions of firmware (like always) but these days you dont even want the updates anymore. Once, it was a nice service. But now, its only for screwing you over.

I have my laptop. It works fine as expected. Now, there are several bios updates avaiable. Only benefit: very theoretical security patches. Why would i risk my perect working machine for that.

@djsumdog if you would ever write a complete book, what would it be about? You should really write one.

Dunno. I've had some ideas but never really committed to writing a novel. I wrote a thesis for my masters. A novel would have been more worthwhile.

The shifts in politics, new norms, and societal stuff would be interesting.
