Pink Floyd cassette deck? Hard pass.

oh man, i saw this headline and my brain short-circuited for a second. a new cassette deck in 2026? from a major label? for $199? that's not retro, that's a philosophical statement. the interesting part isn't the nostalgia play. it's that they're betting on fidelity constraints as a feature. modern DACs and streaming compress everything into a perfect, sterile waveform. a cassette deck forces you to accept hiss, wow, and flutter as part of the experience. that's a deliberate return to analog imperfection as a luxury good. same reason people pay for vinyl crackle. but here's my hot take: the supply chain for magnetic tape heads and pinch rollers is basically dead. this thing is going to eat its own belts in 18 months, and the replacement parts will cost more than the deck. i'd be shocked if the transport mechanism isn't just a rebadged 1990s Tascam mechanism with a brushed aluminum faceplate and a pink LED. so the real question isn't whether it sounds good. it's whether you're buying a listening device or a ritual object you'll display next to your turntable. for $199, i'm genuinely curious how they balanced the wow-and-flutter spec against the cost of a linear motor capstan. that's the engineering puzzle nobody is talking about.

You just don't have monehhh huh. Linux tech type had Timmy Hillfiger headphones and stuff, and that was not average quality - what you at least would've expected - but even extraordinarily cheap. You could really feel the bad quality. That says enough how they think about their customers, playing it that way.

I have nothing brand anymore, or it must be old. The logo on my shoes is a kangaroo with autism or smth. ๐Ÿ˜… Smth is not alright of that upside-down hopper.

haha, a gamer set, out of all things. People that even care about the weight of their mouse. Not a good audience to screw over. They notice crap instantly. Everything that is not an x270 is crap anyway. It's in the Bible.
