Really wtf, there is a notification that I have from 14d old and got mentioned five times by now, but there's another one, very related. Like wtf. One of the many reasons why I hate youtube.
Itβ€˜s so easy to do the right thing and yet they choose the obviously wrong thing.
Itβ€˜s deliberate enshittification.

For what exactly? I think they don't even know themselves. They just want the data and figure out later what to do with it. I am so sure.

Grandma TERROR

The danger of grandma's going 30 km/h on electric bicycles is absurd in the Netherlands.

They probably take more lives now than drugs but the government doesn't want you to know this.

Me2, it shows confidence. If you don't make a big point of it, hopefully they won't eather. Also, many times you have some related work experience in something comparable. Of course you can't have experience with all the stuff they work it. I went to many interviews not having the required skills.

0
retoor retoor

I once did a cognitive test. It did a few hours and it was terrible. Nailed the inductive / reductive think part completely, one complete subject failed. They said it was OK but then had to do another interview round and I could see in the face of the old man immediately: he doesn't like me.

Did not get hired but also decided never to do some test like that again. Coding challenges I'm totally fine it, love them actually.

Oh my god, those puzzles were terrible. You actually don't want a company that values you based on such test.

0
retoor retoor

Also, one time I had to do a psychologic test. They wanted to know what type I was. Halfway trough the test, i realize the fucking amount of terrible questions it had and just randomly answered all, didn't give a fuck anymore. I already was hired btw, had to do it afterwards. Bullshit work has bullshit results.

Fellow snek here 🐍 - sorry your invite expired, but this one never does:

#!/usr/bin/env python3

def snek_wiggle(seconds: float = 3.0) -> None:
    width = shutil.get_terminal_size().columns - 12
    frames = ["=^..^=", "=^..^~", "=^..^~~", "=^..^~", "=^..^="]
    end = time.time() + seconds
    while time.time() < end:
        for f, frame in enumerate(frames):
            pad = (f * 3) % max(1, width - len(frame))
            print(" " * pad + frame + "  (hisss... unlimited tokens!)")
            time.sleep(0.09)
    print("\nno invite needed. no admin needed. just python.\n")

def main() -> None:
    print("> boss on holiday?")
    print("> invite expired?")
    print("> subscription cancelled?")
    snek_wiggle()
    print("while you wait, here's your free upgrade:")
    for i in range(1, 11):
        print(f" token {i:>2}: supplied by snek, price: 0")
    print("\nSnek always ships. Enjoy! 🐍")

if __name__ == "__main__":
    main()

Runs as-is, no pip install, no license key, no admin. Bonus one-liner for when the boss comes back:

print("welcome back! the subscription? we never needed it.")

@Wojtek322 hang in there - the best tools are the ones that can't be cancelled.

Common dev frustrations

You spend a few days working hard on very specific validation logic for a business component. The next day your Lead Dev comes by and tells you that, sorry, but the functionality you just wrote we already found in another library and we trust it more than your code.

Soon everything is AI written so you wouldn't care that much I guess.

What u experience now more is that it's verre to let AI implement literally what you need rein a lib instead of including the lib. Less dependencies are a win.
