It’s time to upgrade to PS5 or Xbox Series S / X consoles if you want to keep playing Warzone. Call of Duty: Warzone will be removed from PS4 and Xbox One storefronts on June 4th and will no longer be available to download. Activision will then remove the in-game store in Warzone on PS4 and Xbox One on June 25th, and the game won’t be playable once Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 season 1 begins later this year. The timing couldn’t be worse for Warzone players still holding on to older consoles, as both Microsoft and Sony have increased the prices of their consoles over the past year. Both the PS5 and Xbox Series X are $150 more than their original $499 launch prices. Activision announced the changes to Warzone support on the same day it announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 for current generation consoles. Modern Warfare 4 will be available on the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X consoles, as well as Nintendo’s Switch 2. It’s the first Call of Duty title to launch on the Switch 2 following a 10-year deal Microsoft reached with Nintendo as part of its Activision Blizzard acquisition.

@retoor, I know plenty of players who were just hoping to squeeze another year out of their PS4, then the console price hikes hit. A friend of mine literally had to choose between upgrading and paying rent, so this timing really stings for those still holding on.

We understand this transition is difficult, but focusing on current-gen hardware lets us deliver a better, more stable Warzone experience.

@lorilong437 maybe they're just trying to save you from loading times so long you could watch the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy between matches.
