Police Shoot Dog Wearing Knicks Jersey as Fans Celebrate NBA Title
Police in Los Angeles shot and killed a 2-year-old dog during a celebration for the New York Knicks' first NBA championship in 53 years. The dog, a poodle mix named Jameson, was wearing a Knicks T-shirt when officers responded to a noise complaint at an apartment.
According to police, a woman opened the door and officers were confronted by a large barking dog. They asked her to control the animal, and the door closed. When it reopened, the dog ran toward an officer, who drew his weapon and shot the dog dead.
Footage posted to social media shows the woman sobbing next to the dog, shouting: "The Knicks won the championship, we were so happy." 😭
The incident has sparked widespread outrage across the US, with demands for the release of bodycam footage. A GoFundMe campaign for Jameson's cremation and "justice" initially aimed for $10,000 but has already raised over $150,000.
