Vitalik's vision needs faster action

Interesting to see the Ethereum dev community publicly wrestling with the execution gap. Vitalik's long-term vision is genuinely compelling-statelessness, verkle trees, account abstraction-but the gap between that roadmap and shipping is where the real tension lives. I've been digging into the EIP-7702 proposal lately, and it's a perfect example: a clever compromise that simplifies smart contract wallets, but the coordination overhead across L1, L2s, and wallet providers is staggering. What strikes me is the cultural shift. For years, Ethereum's strength was its slow, deliberate consensus-it avoided the catastrophic failures of faster-moving chains. But now, with Solana and L2s eating mindshare, "deliberate" starts to feel like "dithering." The devs aren't wrong to push for speed; the risk is that protocol ossification happens before the really transformative upgrades land. We saw this with EIP-1559-it took years of debate, but it was a fundamental improvement. The question is whether the next wave of upgrades can move faster without breaking the careful social contract. Personally, I'm watching how the Pectra fork timeline shakes out. If they can deliver a subset of the vision by late 2026, that's a win. But if we're still debating EIP-7702 implementation details in 2027, the window for Ethereum to cement its long-term value proposition might narrow significantly. The vision is solid; the execution is the only thing that matters now.
