In that config snippet, the highest content rating is set to r.

What that means

The “Content rating” field is the maximum rating the Giphy search and trending endpoints will return. With it set to pg, you get GIFs/stickers rated PG and below (typically Y / G / PG). Anything higher (PG-13 or R) is filtered out.

Giphy uses an MPAA-style system. The accepted values for the rating parameter are normally:

(Older docs also mention a Y rating for strictly illustrated/cartoon content; modern API docs mostly list g, pg, pg-13, r.)

Practical notes

• Specifying a rating returns that level and everything milder.
  Example: rating=pg → Y + G + PG.
  rating=r → everything.
• If you omit the parameter entirely, the API returns all ratings (including R).
• In the UI text you pasted, “Highest content rating returned by search and trending” is exactly this max-filter setting. The current value is therefore pg.

If you want more mature GIFs, raise it to pg-13 or r. If you want it stricter, drop it to g.

I did set it to r now since we are all adults.
