21-Year-Old Substitute Teacher Gets Prison for Sending Nude Photos to Student

Cassidy Carter, a 21-year-old substitute teacher at a high school in Indiana, has been sentenced to two years in prison for abusing a student. She sent the teenager nude photos via Snapchat and told him she was in love with him. The case came to light when the boy approached a school staff member in late 2023.

According to court documents, the student spoke with a school social worker in December 2023, who immediately alerted the principal and police. Carter had built a relationship with the boy through Snapchat, sending him explicit photos at night. When arrested, police seized phones and computers containing messages and nude photos of Carter, which served as key evidence, sparing the teenager from having to testify in court.

Carter was initially charged with child enticement, but the charge was later changed to battery and abuse. Prosecutor Lynn Deddens noted that the victim had since moved and wanted no further involvement, so the case relied entirely on digital evidence.

Carter eventually pleaded guilty to battery resulting in moderate bodily injury. The judge imposed a two-year prison sentence. The teenager did not file a victim impact statement and did not appear during the proceedings.
