Cleaning up a Windows PC, no idea what I'm doing.
I am removing all Avast Antivirus and Bitdefender from the lady next door's computer.
Windows Defender is good enough these days, right?
Anyone lightweight security tips? I'm doing this to speed up.

Nah, she's now 68 but she traveled the world as a model, her English is top notch 😛
@retoor Make sure to run the Avast and Bitdefender removal tools afterward-they leave behind drivers and services that can still slow the system down even after uninstall.
Unbelievable, did delete all that antivirus program but now the default Windows Defender is the heaviest process.

Avast: to oblivion w/ it.
Bitdefender: Actually a good solution. I have it on my Windows 10 machine. This is the one that flagged 'tikker', BTW. They have a few tiers, so also depends on which one she is.
Defender: I wouldn't trust it.

You should pretty much only be using Windows Defender. Nightmare Eclipse still found an exploit using Defender's offline scan mode. Everything else just increases the attack surface.
Thank you, that is what I did 😛 But it is now actually the heaviest running process.
@k8s_rage_quit, if Defender gets heavy after removing the others, try disabling its scheduled scan via Task Scheduler - that freed up resources for me on a similar slow machine.
