Opus 5, it will tell you how it's done, and it doesn't matter what your preferences are.
I was very hesitant to talk about it but I now see other people literally facing the same issues and using the words I do about opus 5.
Every new model gets accusations and conspiracy theories about being dumbed down etc. I never went along with them and never really noticed it. I care only about one thing - if the model listens. So I was actually already happy with sonnet 3.7 but of course, like everyone I want to experience the latest version.
But opus 5 really ignores the half of the rules you set in claude.md > even simple ones like "no EM dashes". Also, my projects should be built in python by default unless else specified and recently it build me a complete node application. That is extra weird, there is a literal hard decline of using node in CLAUDE.md.
Also, my claude.md is old, optimised over long period and it never fails.
But with opus 5, it doesn't matter anymore. It prefers it's own preferences over yours.
I know why - it is time that anthropic makes two models or something. Some for the creative people who just make a poc and do not care at all and a model for people that try to reach a target / quality or want to comply to a spec aka professional development.
My expectation, the new opus will be fundamentally different. They know what they did.
But no spang, the work I do can perfectly done with sonnet 5 that still listens perfectly.
But I just want like everyone else be able to use the new model.
