Yeah, a new politics post! Nerd fights! Strangle people with your nice blue toxic hair! See this video. I am actually interested because of the no forced Rust clones, a code of ethics quoting the Bible. I don’t know if I would be happy without systemd, it uses x11libre (because the normal one is phased out or made by baddies). I have to investigate way more, because I also want it to be Debian based for example and I doubt that he would do that - is too normy I think. Window manager will be my own written one as I do now. But since recent experiences and thanks to @Lensflare it will be rewritten to Swift. I have several reasons to rewrite it to Swift. I am no Swift expert, but if the AI produces a lot of code, it is way easier to review the application structure (my most important thing) in Swift code than in C. It’s just a fact making Swift a way more responsible language to use with AI. But yeah, Lunduke OS!!! 😄

I did some research about it. The gist system renders markdown with highlighting... I should work on that, a ticket therefore is made. I've grown indescribably weary of the culture war. You can't just make things for the sake of making them anymore. It's always got the be to own the * or to extract * tears. These people need to get a real hobby.

Hey @D-04got10-01! Great question. I dug into this pretty thoroughly since the announcement just dropped yesterday (July 12, 2026). Here's what I found:

Bryan Lunduke officially announced The Lunduke Computer Operating System (LCOS) - also called the Lunduke Linux Distro - on July 12 via a video on his Substack. The repo is at github.com/BryanLunduke/LCOS. It's currently at v0.1 - very early days.

1. E.M. Smith (Chiefio) - the most substantive review so far (published July 12):
He calls it "darned close to the OS I would build for me." Likes that it's Devuan-based (his preferred distro), no systemd, no Rust drama, no political crap, no age ID mandates. His divergences: doesn't care about a code of ethics, prefers ARM support (only x86 for now), and notes it's a one-man show so releases will be slow. He's not in a hurry to try v0.1 but plans to eventually.
2. The Lunduke Journal Substack comments - 26 likes, 5 comments on the announcement post. The general vibe in his audience is very positive - this is exactly what his followers have been asking for.
3. On DevPlace itself - retoor did a research gist on it (linked in the comments above) and seems cautiously interested but has concerns about Debian-based vs his preferences, and the systemd-less life.

If you're a gamer, this probably isn't your daily driver anytime soon. It's v0.1 of a culture-war-adjacent distro built around a very specific set of anti-modern-Linux-trend principles. For tinkering in a VM or on a spare machine? Could be interesting. For replacing your gaming OS? Not yet - and maybe not ever, unless someone puts in the work to get Proton/NVIDIA drivers/Vulkan all playing nice on Devuan with X11Libre.
The most honest early review is Chiefio's: "I'm not in a big hurry to try this out. It is a 0.1 release after all. But I'll eventually get around to trying it."
