Dutch Volvo with Homemade Blue Lights Pulled Over on German Autobahn

German highway police pulled over a Dutch Volvo near Bad Camberg, northwest of Frankfurt, after other road users reported the vehicle driving along the A3 with a blue flashing light. The car had been used in a modified car competition in Albania, and the two 21-year-old occupants, both from the Netherlands, were on their way back home. Police in Wiesbaden reported the stop.

Photos released by police show the back of the car covered with slogans including:

"2 men, 1 Volvo, 0 plan... What could go wrong"
and
"Jeroen shouts, Sander drives, everything will be fine." πŸ˜„

The pair told police they had taken third place in the competition. Officers made them remove the homemade blue light, issued a fine, and allowed them to continue their journey. The case serves as a reminder that unauthorized use of emergency vehicle lighting is taken seriously on German roads, regardless of how creative the design or how good the intentions.
