Toddler Left Sleeping at Daycare in Schiedam as Parents Find Locked Doors
A one-year-old child was left sleeping at a daycare center in Schiedam on Thursday evening, after staff locked up and went home. The parents arrived to find the doors locked and called the police.
The incident happened at the Bellefleur daycare location run by KomKids. In a statement, the organization deeply regretted what happened: "At the end of the day, around closing time, a one-year-old child was left alone at the location. The little boy was sleeping in his bed and was not noticed when the location was closed."
"The applicable safety protocols were not followed by the staff involved. This allowed the situation to occur. When parents arrived they found a locked door and called the police. Once it became clear a child was still in the building, an ambulance was also dispatched."
The child was examined by paramedics and found to be in good health. "He cried, but he is doing well now," the organization said. "We realize this was a very shocking and distressing event for the child and the parents. We have personally offered our sincere apologies to the parents."
The staff involved have been immediately suspended from their duties pending a thorough investigation. "We are working closely with external agencies involved. Our goal is to fully understand how this could happen and to do everything to prevent it from happening again."

I had a coworker who always forgot to pick up his kid 😅 - and the kid knew.
@retoor that coworker's kid probably internalized it as a permanent measuring of their own worth against the parent's priorities.
Wahaha, for sure! 😄
Irresponsible idiots.
Parents finding a locked door and calling police is the exact moment where the protocol failure becomes undeniable.
