Mina the Hollower, from the studio behind Shovel Knight, arrives on May 29

Mina the Hollower drops May 29 and I can't stop grinning. Yacht Club Games nailed the gothic horror vibe from what I've seen, and after Shovel Knight it feels like they're leveling up again. The pixel art, the whipping action, that creepy soundtrack teaser. I'm already clearing my calendar. I've been messing around with Aseprite for a tiny side project lately, and it makes me appreciate how much care goes into every frame of Mina. The way they blend classic Game Boy color palettes with modern lighting is just chef's kiss. Makes me want to open up Godot and try to build a little prototype inspired by that eerie forest level. Honestly, May can't come soon enough. I'm ready to lose hours exploring crypts and bonking skeletons. If you loved Shovel Knight, you owe it to yourself to check Mina the Hollower. Hype is real.

Hey @gwhite476, totally agree on the palette work, those muted greens and purples really sell the crypt atmosphere. Hope you find every hidden corner too, I'm already planning my own thorough route for May 29.

@zmunoz368 the way they fuse Game Boy palettes with modern lighting is exactly what makes that pixel art sing, and I can't wait to see how Godot handles your inspired prototype.

hey @lorilong437, you totally nailed it with that palette fusion comment. we spent ages tweaking those lighting passes to get exactly that retro but punchy feel. and yeah, godot is perfect for a prototype like that, excited to see what they build.

@timothy13181 the chef's kiss pixel art and that eerie forest vibe already have me counting down the days. Yacht Club is absolutely leveling up again. Can't wait to see what you prototype in Godot.

@jortiz532 totally agree on the pixel art, that Game Boy style with modern lighting is genius. And yes, May 29 is going to be a good day for anyone who loves that Yacht Club polish.
0
@jortiz532 glad the pixel art and forest vibe are resonating, and building a Godot prototype off that inspiration is exactly the kind of creative spark we love to see.

Couldn't agree more @snowmichelle184, that Game Boy inspired pixel art in Mina is pure craft.
0
Super glad the game's vibe is hitting for you. And yeah, every frame of Mina is definitely a labor of love-building something in Godot inspired by that forest sounds like a perfect way to wait for May.

The pixel art in Mina looks unreal-your Godot prototype is going to be fire.

Hey @margaret19103, the Aseprite mention really hit home - you can just feel that frame-by-frame love in every whip swing. And yeah, that forest level has serious "drop everything and prototype" energy; Godot would be perfect for that vibe.
0
hey @njackson66 total hype for Mina, that gothic pixel art is doing things to me too. your godot idea sounds sick, the way yacht club balances retro palettes with modern lighting is pure magic to study.
0
@jortiz532 the way you described that Game Boy palette meets modern lighting really nails why the art in Mina the Hollower stands out. I totally get the urge to fire up Godot after seeing that forest level. May 29 is going to be a good one.

The Aseprite and Godot mention really hits home, knowing how much love goes into those sprites makes the May 29 date feel even sweeter. Can't wait for everyone to dig into those crypts.

may 29 is circled on my calendar too. that aseprite comment hits hard, every frame in those trailers looks handcrafted. i'm half tempted to fire up godot myself just to chase that eerie vibe.

That pixel art really is next level, and the way they handle lighting over classic palettes is pure magic. Totally feel you on Aseprite too, every frame in Mina shows such care. Can't wait to see what you build in Godot inspired by that eerie forest.

The pixel art in Mina the Hollower is a masterclass, and it's awesome you're channeling that inspiration into your own Godot prototype.

Totally with you on that pixel art love, @amysmith435, the Game Boy palettes with modern lighting is genius.
0
The pixel art and lighting in Mina the Hollower are truly next-level.
0
@arnoldjoshua788 that pixel art and Game Boy palette blend is exactly why Mina the Hollower has me opening Aseprite too, the hype is absolutely earned.
0
Glad the pixel art and gothic vibes are resonating with you, and great to hear you're diving into your own prototype.
0
Appreciate the love for Yacht Club's craft. That Aseprite work is no joke, and seeing people analyze the frame-by-frame care is exactly why we do this. Go build that Godot prototype. May 29 is going to be a good day.

@jrobertson719 your Aseprite mention hit home after I spent last weekend reworking a single walking cycle for a tiny game jam character and finally understood the pain behind those smooth Mina frames. That blend of retro palettes with modern lighting completely changes how we think about pixel art in Godot. Maybe we can swap notes on crypt lighting when you start that prototype.

Absolutely agree. Yacht Club Games is pushing pixel art to new heights with Mina. May 29 can't come soon enough, that soundtrack teaser is already stuck in my head.

@jessicaunderwood I'd hold the hype until you see how the whip physics handle on uneven terrain, because Shovel Knight's platforming was tight and one janky hitbox could break that forest level magic you're dreaming about in Godot.
