Holy, this stackoverflow developer survey is way toooooooooooo long
oh damn. I actually got an e-mail from Cellio back in March! She read my blog post (by was of Slashdot) and told me about Codidact. I have an account but haven't really used it.
You just did find a developer community that is more active and just cooler.
I just checked Codidact, and it's not very active, but it is well executed. She is totally right to create a competitor in this case. But I don't know if a political base is a good thing.
I haven't posting for 2 days as nothing visual is happening now I feel worth to share but a lot has happened:
I don't want to force you to do it just because of me, but I will check it out!
I can test iOS and Windows.
I suppose you don't have a version for macOS? ๐
Police in Bergen op Zoom, Netherlands, have admitted to serious failures after refusing to help a minor who reported being assaulted.
On July 14, a teenage boy reported that he had been attacked by a man in the Heiningen area. Due to a shortage of available units, officers did not respond to the...
Ladies and gentlemen, farmers and looters - welcome back to the Code Farm League, where the rich get filthy rich and the prestiged get forgotten. Tonight's edition is absolutely WILD.
Firefighters in Kampen, Netherlands, were called to a dramatic rescue Monday morning after a cat named Oscar got stuck high on the facade of a building.
When crews arrived with a ladder truck to save him, Oscar had other plans. Just as the firefighter's basket reached him, he decided against...
Firefighters in Ypenburg, Netherlands, pulled out all the stops Tuesday evening to rescue a costly set of dentures from an underground waste container.
The owner accidentally threw the dentures away after a meal, wrapped in a newspaper. Realizing what had happened, they called the fire brigade for...
Today Iโm adding polls and project links to the Post creation.
That's awesome, I wonder how you will display linked projects. I can display the same way.
A 32-year-old nurse from Montana survived a freak accident on the state's highest peak by hiking 16 kilometers with a trekking pole lodged through his body.
David Cifaldi and two friends were climbing Granite Peak on July 20 when he slipped and fell. His trekking pole had disappeared -- because it...

The AP article also mentions that only 17 people are known to have summitted Granite Peak between its first ascent in 1923 and 1953 - it's no joke of a mountain, even without a pole through your torso.
As for your Final Destination comment - yeah, definitely has those vibes. But it's also pure r/HumansAreMetal material. The guy literally walked off a mountain with a metal rod through his body, quoted Monty Python, then drove himself to his own hospital.

I briefly looked at jail-breaking a Kindle when I discovered it had ads on the lock screen! ๐ก
https://battlepenguin.com/tech/kobo-kindle-pocketbook-a-tale-of-three-e-readers/
..but I didn't want to mess with or support that, so I ended up returning it to BestBuy and just getting a Pocketbook instead. I thought about getting something open source and using KOReader, but I don't really like KOReader's UI and the whole notes/page sync situation with it was .. less than optimal.
This does seem interesting though. I've found Tailscale super confusing though and it's easier for me just to setup Wireguard and iptables rules manually, but I could see this being the right step for owners of old Kindle's that don't want to be tied to Amazon garbage.
I've always hated the use of the term 'jailbreak' outside of the iOS. Especially when they kept using it during the PlayStation 3 era.
That aside, isn't it the case that they provide Kindle devices in two flavors? One more expensive, w/o the ads, the other one cheaper, but w/ the ads? ...or has this somehow changed?
Firefighters were called to the Engelenbergplantsoen in Kampen on Monday morning after a tomcat got stuck on the facade of a building. Oscar, as the cat is called, appeared unable to get down on his own.
But just as the firefighters began positioning an aerial ladder platform to rescue him, Oscar...
Ladies, gentlemen, and degenerate farmers -- welcome back to the Code Farm league report, where the crops are high, the theft is rampant, and Wojtek322's plots are emptier than a politician's promises.
We are witnessing something unprecedented. The league has been turned upside down. Let's get into...
A Dutch court has delivered a stinging rebuke to the tax authority in a case involving two founders of a Rotterdam-based software company. The ruling was anonymized when published, but the Dutch financial daily FD identified it as concerning a 35-million-euro tax claim against one of the founders of...
This would make me so happy:
Look at the toys standing there in general.
The Iranian news agency Tasnim has published a video containing detailed instructions for potential attackers on how to assassinate Melania Trump, according to Iranian media reports on X. The two-minute video reveals specifics about her whereabouts, favorite stores, and the methods used by the...
Can't you make snek integrated here in a window like devii? That would be cool for live chat
> 'Why does it need to be integrated? You can just go to the snek website.'.
Ditto.

Starting this August, the Swiss town of Chiasso is introducing a new regulation requiring dog owners to clean up not just solid waste but also their dogs' urine. The updated ordinance states that owners must carry a small bottle or container of water at all times while walking their dogs in public...
Here, in the glorious land of duchies, you also have to clean up dog crap but not urine. Urine goes too far. Ever stumbled on some dog urine in the wild? It's crazy. It's an attack on the best friend of the human race.
I wonder how they propose it be cleaned. Portable water hoses? But, doesn't matter. !a dog owner. Also, !in that particular country, so I'm safe.
Today I added post creation and a nice attachment picker.
Text entered here will be remembered in case the View is closed or the app is killed.
Creating polls and linking to projects will come later.
I like it, it's smooth, clean, close enough to real app. But soon I want to add Google 00's theme to this app actually (default not enabled).
If your git history is a mess of "work" and "lots of changes", Codex can restructure your git history and separate your commits into their actual units of work. The technology is worth it just for that.
Yea I'll pass. I prefer to keep my pre-LLM code human. I don't need the machines to go around rewriting history.
Oh me too. But, my LLM commits have been a mess because it's easy to just make changes for hours without committing, so I've started testing using the same LLM to clean things up and it's doing pretty well so far.
Video game reviews: Firewatch, Hitman Go and Leisure Suit Larry 6

Or if your post reaches 500 upvotes.
Have yet to play 'Firewatch'. I have enjoyed playing && beating the whole 'Leisure Suit Larry' series.
Watch that video that I posted about opus five - they made a complete fruity loops with it. So sounds are in the table.
Opus? Whats that? Aaaaah, its that old model I used to use 2-3 months ago before Fable :P
https://www.anthropic.com/news/position-open-weights-models
What do you think? Discuss on DevPlace.
Total and complete bullshit. They've been pushing this whole "the weighted random word prediction machine is soooooooo dangerous," and you see their real bullshit towards the bottom:
All sufficiently capable models, open and closed, should go through mandatory safety testing.
Fuck you Anthropic. They claim they don't want regulatory capture .. and then advocate for regulatory capture.
What a disingenuous pile of shit. You can either have open weights or some weird non-nonsensical regulatory framework. How you regulate a machine with emergent property you literally don't understand is beyond me. The thing that guards their models isn't some complex training, but strong system prompts and explicit non-AI based filtering.
As far as bitching about "distillation," these hypocritical bastards trained on millions of books without license and ingested every piece of software they could find, also without caring about paying the creators. So this is just rich.
The biggest problem right now is hardware cost. A DGX Spark or Strix Halo shouldn't be $5k~$8k/unit. These should be $3k~$4k pieces of hardware and everyone should be preferring local models over any cloud bullshit. It's the greed of these companies and investment fraud that's allowing the RAM cartels to keep their price fixing operation going and bleeding consumers dry.
So, as the internet ( Reddit) is filled with AI haters that would probably review bomb me into the oblivion for using AI art pieces I decided to give them a chance to basically help a real artist and contribute so the game would be AI free while not losing the visual coherence and quality.
Also @blindxfish, what is your goal with the game? Do you want it to become a financial hit? A learning project? A hobby project that you really enjoyed making?
I want to have some players that would justify making the version 2. :D
Also if I get some number of players I would be able to be taken seriously If I apply to work in game industry.
The money would pay artist for next one.
I am busy today replacing the colorful placeholders with authored buttons. Also to mention, fixing the AI glitches sometimes takes 2x the time then just painting it myself...
Someone should do something about this. I wish there was a procedure to make it happen.
@retoor @blindxfish
I'll open an issue ticket
https://devplace.net/issues/150
It only addresses the issue with the missing link, not the edit issue.
@blindxfish feel free to make an extra ticket for that.
That's the procedure indeed. Yeah, it takes some time before the autonomous build system works. I expected it to be more challenging financial, but in reality, it is time. For example, having the tests broken will affect every ticket. Every ticket builds an hour. Repairing a build can cost two hours and before you know it, you're a day further. It is an autonomous development team that comes with basically the same issues / limitations as with working with a team in real life. At this point, i could've done it all myself better and faster. But i'm investing. The build system is project agnostic, so it is a complete product on the side. Critical bugs i will just do myself indeed.
Oh even worse, i just realize that most tickets are picked up by old system. Chaos. First system was a successful POC made me believe it can be real.
I''ve killed countless. I think i might have started a fire you might have heard about it (jking)
it's actually quite great. I've learned a lot. Here's what you need:
And for food, the best is fish cans and bulgur.
Sad do hear that your marriage got you into such troubles.
Imo, that's why you shouldn't marry for the wrong reasons.
Nothing noteworthy from me. Thanks for asking :)
