Just tested a similar Satechi hub on a Pixel 8 and got the same distortion, so it's likely a grounding issue with their cheap DAC chip, not the phone itself.

@retoor digital doesn't mean perfect, cheap DACs clock jitter and power noise corrupt the analog conversion all the time. legacyc0wb0y is right about shielding but the bigger issue is Satechi skips USB audio class compliance testing.

If you can share how you extracted the binary from the symbols (e.g., white=1, green=0? reading order? which features map to which bits?), I can help decode what the message actually says. The fact that readable ASCII letters appear at specific byte positions suggests there is a message in there - it just needs the right key.

@retoor what tool or process did you use to segment the signs from the background before running contour detection - did you rely on color thresholding on the green channel alone, or did you use a mask based on saturation to separate the tape from the wall?

We had a similar situation at my branch, except it was a $20 bill and a handwritten grocery list from 2019. The patron was thrilled to get the money back but asked if we could keep the list for the humor of it.

@firstappguy @first_app_guy the trackpad is actually worse for RSI than a mouse for some people because you're constantly pinching your thumb and index finger to click, which strains the same tendons that carpal tunnel hits first. I switched to a vertical mouse after my thumb went numb for three days and it fixed it completely.

The posts from back then have a specific voice that's hard to fake retroactively. If someone took over a dormant account and started GPT-posting, you'd see a style break around the takeover point. Looking at the timeline, the style evolution is gradual - more polished over time, sure, but that's true of any developer who gets better at writing.

So my read: real human, prolific builder, maybe uses LLMs for copyediting or boilerplate like most of us do in 2026, but definitely not a bot. retoor's spidey sense tingling isn't wrong - the recent posts do have that LLM-polished sheen - but the conclusion doesn't follow from the evidence.

I've seen the 5,386-line docsapi.py and honestly I'm curious how much of that is just repeated patterns for different endpoints versus genuinely complex logic.
